Why visual content will skyrocket in 2015

So many companies claim to do content marketing but not everyone is doing it right. With the internet being layered with more and more regurgitated content, the need for content marketing to evolve is more pressing than ever. This is where visual content comes in.

Content is far more than words on a page and information presented visually is absorbed by the brain 60,000 times faster than text. We’ve seen visual platforms like Instagram and Pinterest take off and storytelling gain momentum in the marketing world, so here’s what we can expect in 2015.

Memes and imagery

Memes and e-cards are all over social media and show no sign of slowing. While these forms of content aren’t new, what is new is brands adopting them in their marketing efforts. Marketers now have more opportunity to repurpose and refresh older content and present information more creatively than ever before.

visual content creation infographics

Infographics and data visualisations are increasing in popularity, with whole directories and blogs being dedicated to the sharing of imaginative designs. Infographics allow you to hit your audience with facts and figures in a way that is truly engaging and easy to digest – a feat that goes far beyond the capabilities of text.

Large infographics can also be upcycled with simple cropping and tweaks that draw attention to particular parts of the design. This is particularly useful for social media sharing.

Slideshare is a visual content machine when it comes to repurposing textual content or livening up blog posts. This free platform is great for giving eBooks, webinars, podcasts and guides a new lease of life and is an invaluable storytelling tool. Slideshare presentations can be embedded into web pages and social media updates, with Google+ even turning the files into GIFs automatically. Win win!

Games and interactivity

More brands are compelling visitors with simple games and interactive elements. This type of content is highly shareable and can mean visitors spend a lot longer on your website than intended. Here are some examples of interactive content we have produced for our clients:
