Whether online, by phone, or face to face through Turn2us' partner organisations, over the past five years, the online channel has grown in importance in providing help on welfare benefits and charitable grants. As a key part of this channel, the website needed refreshing to meet the growing demands placed on it.

The main goal of the rebuild project was to focus the content delivery at the target audience groups, to enable more social engagement, to enable faster location of information, and provide quicker access to the Turn2us online tools – the Benefits Calculator and Grant Search.

The new site also needed to comply with the AA level of accessibility and be mobile responsive to enable access to content for the widest audience possible.

The project faced several challenges including:

  • The large number of stakeholders at Turn2us with differing requirements
  • Refining the content tree into a logical structure targeted at the various audience groups
  • Enabling development by developers from both the client developers and Positive
  • Integrating with various systems and tools

Kentico was chosen to provide an intuitive CMS for the editors to replace the out-going end-of-life CMS, which had proven a hindrance to the timely creation of content. It was the perfect platform for the delivery of the new website as we were able to develop the core of the solution quickly which then allowed development of the content. Once the core structure and content was in place it was a straightforward process to build out the other various aspects of the site.

The development team leveraged the functionality and features of the CMS to deliver an enhanced user experience with some great features that allow the site to deliver the rich content and key benefits-related information to users more quickly.

Kentico CMS also provided a great platform to deliver the administrative interface for the charity, which had to be developed from scratch on the previous platform - saving on both time and cost.

We have forged a true partnership with the client, and we continue to provide ongoing UX, design and development support in a constant drive to further optimise the visitor experience.
